Notts lost 4-1 in a heated second leg tie against Coventry City, which could have earned Notts County a place at Wembley Stadium on the 28th of May; however, it wasn’t to be for the Magpie’s with a poor first half performance and a shocking decision made by the officials, the game finished 4-1.
Coventry scored two goals within the first 30 minutes of the game, in the driving seat for near all of the first half; with Grant pulling a goal back before the break. Forte thought he pulled the score back to 2-2 in the early minutes of the second half, yet a woeful decision ensured Coventry were still in the lead. Yet, Coventry scored two further goals to seal the result in their favour.
It wasn’t to be for County.
However, as fans, we can still be very proud of our football club from being near the brink of relegation in to the National League; for the first time in our history, to competing in the play offs is a remarkable achievement for young manager Kevin Nolan. Let’s hope the 18/19 season brings even better memories, which can be made thanks to Alan Hardy and Kevin Nolan!
