Alessandra netted a 67th minute goal to secure all three points, heading back to Nottingham, with another win under the belt! Notts County are now unbeaten in SIX games – (Scunthorpe, Chesterfield, Wycombe, Everton U23s, Accrington Stanley & now Port Vale!). The team is certainly developing a winning mentality!
The game, started really scrappily – with Notts fighting a battle of keeping the ball up. The field; away from Adam Collin’s goal.
The hosts going close with an effort, roughly from the just hitting the side of Adam Collin’s post and bouncing out of play.
Stead latched onto a free, open attempt but was left frustrated when the ball went past the far post.
Both sides tried to get into the game but the game still stayed very dull going into the break.
After the break, Port Vale tried everything to show their presence against County. Racking up the corners but in this scrappy affair, with Dan Jones keeping a ball out of the back of the net, thanks to a sweet heading clearance.
Hunt were replaced by Milsom; with Hewitt diverting to right back position – Hunt being replaced having required treatment earlier on in the game. It wasn’t long, until Jonathan Forte came on to a huge applause from the Notts fans – to replace Ameobi. Not long after that, Hawkridge were replaced by Alessandra.
The triple substitution paid off incredibly well, as Grant crossed in to the box, Alessandra turned the ball into the back of the net in the 67th minute! A ball which sent tremors through the defence of the Valients! First touch on the field from Alessandra!
Vale didn’t want to loose this game at all costs, and created and opening straight away with Adam Collin coming off his line to head the ball. The ball fell to a Vale player, with an open goal; the ball was smashed towards the back of the net, however Ryan Yates stunningly saved the 3 points which a excellent sliding effort!
During that mental spell of the game, Brisley took a blow and looked out on the field. He were taken off and looked after for the rest of the game by physio; all the best wishes for him and we hope he is okay! Notts were down to 10.
Eight minutes were added on during this spell and it proved to show County’s character with the team defending resolutely to keep the Magpie’s lead intact!
Grant had the opportunity to score, but the shot was smothered, twice, by the Vale keeper. Unlucky!
Notts held on and are now on the back of the 5 game unbeaten streak!
