Fan Chants

We are Notts’ County! Club of the EFL, the oldest professional football club in the world! Currently, we have a diverse range of chants bellowed out from the terraces; here is a diverse database of chants in which you’ll hear, as part of your match day experience. We’ve listed family friendly chats, for all to join in at the next Notts game.

Firstly, the infamous wheelbarrow chant, first originally derived from a misunderstanding of Shrewsbury fans singing “On Top of the Old Smokey”, now bellowed out around Meadow Lane; can somebody please put the wheel back on?!

I had a wheelbarrow,

the wheel fell off,

I had a wheelbarrow,

the wheel fell off,

I had a wheelbarrow,

the wheel fell off,

I had a wheelbarrow,

the wheel fell off…

Next up, from the same tune and familiar lyrics of the old pre-school song, “Oh when the Saints go marching in”, we’ve got the traditional Notts County edition; first originally sang at Southampton then adapted by most football fans up and down the country! The chant gets faster, after each verse is sang, in tune with the nursery rhyme too.

Oh whennnn the Nottsssss,

Go marching innnnnn,

Oh whennn the Nottssss go marchingggg innnnnnn,

I want to beeee in that numberrrr,

Oh when the Notts go marching in………

Remember when we drew to Juve, back in 2011? Notts, freshly promoted from League 2 went over to open Juventus’ new stadium; famously drew 1-1 with Juve. They’ve borrowed & adapted our kit, making a marvellous effort too; the famous Black and White stripes!

Juve,

It’s just like watching Juve,

It’s just like watching Juve,

It’s just like watching Juve…

Stand up, if you love County! You heard us right! Stand up! Another famous chant, adapted by most fans across the country…

Stand up!

If you love County,

Stand up!

If you love County,

Stand up!

If you love County,

Stand up!

If you love County…

What city do we live in? Ah – that’s right! Nottingham – intimidating the home fans (usually), our fans sprout a verse of Nottingham to show them whose boss!

Nottingham,

Nottingham,

Nottingham,

Nottingham,

Nottingham,

Nottingham,

Nottingham,

Nottingham,

Nottingham,

Nottingham,

Nottingham!
