A match viewpoint from a young, passionate fan, Chloe Norman; after the Mansfield Town game.
On the 16th of April 2016, Notts County tumbled to their heaviest defeat of the season against Mansfield Town, under their 3rd manager this season, Mark Cooper. After we went 4 games unbeaten against Wycombe, Northampton, Stevenage and Hartlepool; which we soon won on Tuesday the 12th April with a 1:0 victory thanks to a goal from Jon Stead.
Saturday 16th April 2016
The team bus left meadow lane to make their way to Mansfield town in the Nottinghamshire derby against our biggest rivals backed by around 1,700 fans to see what everybody thought would turn into a 5th straight game unbeaten but it wasn’t to be as in the 9th minute the whole game turned on its head as Haydn Hollis tried to clear a cross but headed it straight down to Matt Green’s feet who made no mistake by placing his shot right past Scott Loach who was left helpless. Things got even worse for the Magpie’s as the second half began and the whole of the county team fell apart and we ended up conceding four more goals which would be our biggest defeat of the season under our newly appointed manager, Mark Cooper.
The Mansfield Town goalie didn’t help himself, because after they scored the 3rd goal he was rubbing it into our fans behind his goal which got the fans tempers running high which were only going to cause trouble and people would end up getting thrown out of the ground but the goalie kept doing it and all of the fans kept on complaining to the stewards, but, they just stood there unwilling to assist.
Leaving the One Call Stadium with the official away travel would only make me feel better to just get home and think to myself what had happened at the match and I can’t wait to go to Barnet to support the lads. COME ON YOU PIES, ONWARDS AND UPWARDS; I feel all the fans need a much improved performance to make us feel better!
